Coca-Cola Amatil, the brand’s largest bottler and distributor in Asia-Pacific, partnered with encryption start-up Centrapay for the initiative.
To start BTC payments, users will need to install Sylo Smart Wallet on their phones. Once the wallet is installed, Centrapay allows users to scan a QR code to pay for Amatil items in bitcoin and other digital currencies.
Centrapay said it helps branded businesses connect directly with users and increase their revenue potential. Adidas, KFC, and Jack Daniel’s are some of the brands listed on its website as customers.
Centrapay CEO Jerome Faury said the company had resolved two barriers to adopting digital data – “integration complexity and poor user experiences.”
Looking ahead, Centrapay plans to grow its business worldwide. “We have created a presence in North America and will then target the U.S. market with some pioneering innovations in the world,” Faury said.
