The transfer of an Ethereum (ETH) node to the International Space Station (ISS) was undertaken by SpaceX. It’s the first time an Ethereum node has entered… orbit.
SpaceChain has signed a contract with SpaceX to lease a Falcon 9 rocket that was launched on June 3 and is scheduled to reach the ISS. This is the fourth cargo SpaceChain sends to “space” and will “demonstrate the integration of Ethereum technology into the hardware it already maintains on the ISS”.
Ethereum node will be installed on the ISS, as according to SpaceChain, plant security is critical to maintaining the security of the Ethereum node network. Nexus Inc., a customer of SpaceChain, will provide the ethereum node installation solution to the ISS.
SpaceX will use a Falcon 9 rocket for another trip to the ISS on June 24, 2021 to carry three nodes on behalf of Biteeu, Divine and Nexus Inc.
The nodes will be installed on the YAM-2 satellite, which is carried by a Falcon 9 rocket as part of the “rideshare” program. The mission will be performed by Loft Orbital,” said a SpaceChain spokesperson.
