Bitcoin’s market dominance has remained between 58% and 60% for six months, a key technical range that will determine the next major move for cryptocurrency markets. Market observers state a break above could signal continued institutional Bitcoin buying, while a break below would confirm capital flowing into Ethereum and altcoins.
Market analysts are closely monitoring Bitcoin’s market share as it consolidates within a narrow six-month range. According to market observer Ash Crypto, this setup means a decisive break will dictate whether altcoins enter a bullish season or face further losses.
A break above the 60% dominance level could push Bitcoin’s share to between 63% and 64%. The analyst suggested this scenario would indicate institutions are solely buying Bitcoin, causing altcoins to decline further and pressuring the Ethereum to Bitcoin pair to new lows. Conversely, a break below 58% would signal capital rotation from Bitcoin into Ethereum and other altcoins.
That move would confirm a breakout for the ETH/BTC pair above the 0.0320 level. “Break above 0.0320 and ETH starts outperforming Bitcoin,” Ash Crypto stated. The analyst added “Break below 0.0280 and new lows follow,” with the pair currently trading near 0.0314.
Ethereum has notably outperformed Bitcoin on an annual basis, gaining 22% year-on-year. Bitcoin has shed nearly 11% over the same period, according to recent data. Ethereum’s technical picture recently improved as its SuperTrend indicator shifted to a “Buy” signal for the first time since September 2025.
