Delegations from the United States and Iran have gathered in Islamabad, Pakistan, for direct talks aimed at establishing a permanent peace. The U.S. delegation includes Vice President JD Vance, while Iran’s side is led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
Previous reports from a Pakistani source claimed that Vance played a key role in organizing the diplomatic solution. The Trump administration has also sent Steve Witkoff and the President’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to the talks.
The negotiations follow a two-week ceasefire announced just hours before a stated deadline from President Donald Trump. A condition of that deal was for Iran to safely reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
President Trump commented earlier today, promising that the Strait will be reopened ‘fairly soon.’ In practice, however, only a small number of ships have been passing through the waterway since the announcement.
Bitcoin’s price saw immediate gains following the ceasefire news on Tuesday, surging from approximately $68,000. The asset tapped $73,500 earlier today after a brief decline in the interim days.
The focus for investors is now fixed on the outcome of the ongoing diplomatic discussions. Analysts suggest that an announcement of a lasting peace deal could influence the cryptocurrency’s market trajectory.
