A new free-to-play web game called Mempool Space Invaders offers a single Bitcoin bounty of approximately $7.30. To win, a player must destroy in-game representations of real Bitcoin transactions totaling 10,000 BTC, valued around $730 million. The pseudonymous developer, Jasonb, stated the first player to achieve this and share proof will claim the 10,000 satoshi reward, though success hinges on exceptional skill, favorable blockchain activity, or moving an enormous sum of BTC personally.
A new web game, Mempool Space Invaders, will award one player a bounty of 10,000 satoshis, worth approximately $7.30, for destroying digital “whales” representing real Bitcoin transactions. The winner must eliminate a cumulative total of 10,000 BTC, mirroring around $730 million in on-chain value, according to a post by its pseudonymous developer.
Players shoot descending whales that each correspond to live Bitcoin transactions, adding their BTC value to the player’s score. Failing to destroy the whales depletes shields and ends the game, though players can restart for free or pay about $0.73 to continue a previous run.
The developer outlined that victory requires significant skill and luck to encounter large transactions during gameplay. “The people’s approach,” they suggested, is to “throw up a 10,000 Bitcoin transaction to yourself and wait for it to show up.”
They added a cheeky footnote, advising, “Just make sure not to spend too much in fees, or you’ll eat up all your winnings.” Early attempts by users, mentioned in comments, resulted in scores of only 30 to 70 BTC destroyed, far short of the goal.
The game was first reported by Protos and is accessible online. Bitcoin traded near $73,198 at the time of the report, up 1.3% over 24 hours but still significantly below its all-time high.
