Ethereum Nears Critical Breakout, Tests $1.8K Support as Bearish Trend Holds

-

Ethereum’s price action has entered a period of compressed consolidation following a sharp drop toward the $1,800 support level. Technical analysis reveals the asset is trading within a descending channel on the daily chart and a tightening triangle pattern on the 4-hour timeframe, signaling an imminent breakout decision. Market data suggests bearish pressure may be easing, but the direction of the next significant move remains unclear, with key resistance near $2,400 and critical support at $1,800.

Following an aggressive sell-off, Ethereum has transitioned into choppy consolidation near the $1,800 region. The price continues to trade inside a descending channel on the daily chart, with this level serving as a firm structural base.

Each attempt to push higher has been capped by the channel’s midline resistance. Analysts note that a confirmed breakout above this boundary would open the path toward the $2,300–$2,500 resistance zone.

On the 4-hour timeframe, ETH has formed a clear triangle pattern defined by descending resistance and rising support. This structure reflects volatility contraction and is now approaching its apex, suggesting a breakout is imminent.

A confirmed breakout above the triangle, followed by a reclaim of the $2,396 level, could shift momentum upward. Conversely, losing the triangle’s ascending support would expose the $1,800 base once again.

Sentiment analysis from derivatives markets provides additional context for the current equilibrium. The Taker Buy/Sell Ratio across all exchanges has remained below 1.0 for a prolonged period, indicating aggressive market sells have dominated overall order flow.

However, the recent rebound in this ratio suggests selling pressure may be weakening. If the ratio decisively moves above 1.0 and sustains that level, it would confirm aggressive market buying and increase the probability of an upside breakout.
