Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called for the BRICS alliance to support its members, describing it as “essential” for maintaining stability amid conflict with Israel. His remarks followed a conversation with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The minister argued that international bodies must condemn aggression against Iran, as the country faces isolation from its adversaries.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that support from the BRICS alliance is “essential” for maintaining regional and global stability. He made these remarks after a call with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
Araghchi highlighted the importance of BRICS “as a forum for developing multilateral cooperation.” He said it was “essential for the institution to play a constructive role at the current juncture in supporting regional and global stability and security.”
The diplomat stressed it is a “necessity” for BRICS to support Iran during the ongoing crisis. He called for international bodies to “Condemn the military aggression against Iran.”
Araghchi specifically pointed to “aggression and atrocities committed by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.” He discussed these consequences for stability during the diplomatic conversation.
S. Jaishankar confirmed discussing bilateral and BRICS-related issues on social media. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over the Middle East situation but has not offered official support to Iran.
With India chairing the next BRICS summit, Iran may voice its opinion during the meeting. The alliance faces a balancing act between supporting its members and managing relations with other global powers.
