According to job postings, the company is seeking bankers, traders, and credit analysts to teach the system about specialized areas like leveraged loans and distressed investing. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance Grok’s capabilities and advance Musk’s vision of transforming X into an “everything app,” with recruitment now also extending to cryptocurrency experts.

The company is actively seeking bankers, portfolio managers, traders, and credit analysts for its data annotation teams. These experts are expected to teach the AI system to think through areas like leveraged loan syndication and niche bonds such as mortgage-backed securities.
Musk recently hired two senior employees from Cursor, an AI coding startup in fundraising discussions. He admitted at a recent conference that xAI is behind on coding, a key revenue driver for competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic.
The firm has also previously recruited accountants, with Musk touting Grok’s ability to “help with your taxes.” Additionally, xAI has expanded its job offerings in recent months to bring in experts in finance and digital assets.
xAI is now seeking crypto experts to train its AI trading models, as stated on its X page. The page displays a hiring message signaling the firm’s shift toward officially recruiting finance experts to model xAI for crypto trading.
Neither xAI nor Elon Musk has commented on this specific recruitment drive. Musk has, however, been vocal about his backing of the Grok AI software and his desire to make X an “everything app.”
