New Telegram App ‘Vera Report’ Promises Anonymous Whistleblowing

-

The companies AlphaTON Capital and the Midnight Foundation have launched Vera Report, an anonymous whistleblower reporting app integrated with Telegram. The tool uses zero-knowledge proofs and scrubs metadata to protect user identities while submitting evidence to law firms and agencies. The app’s development was influenced by AlphaTON CEO Brittany Kaiser’s personal experience as a whistleblower following the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

AlphaTON Capital and the Midnight Foundation introduced an anonymous reporting app called Vera Report within Telegram’s ecosystem. The app leverages confidential computing and zero-knowledge proofs to preserve information provided by whistleblowers. It also scrubs metadata from documents to protect user anonymity.

AlphaTON CEO Brittany Kaiser views the project as deeply personal, stemming from her experience as a whistleblower in the Cambridge Analytica case. “I’ve had hundreds of people reach out to me from all over the world to ask about how they go through this,” she stated. Vera Report is designed as a response to public calls for whistleblowers from figures like Elon Musk and the Trump administration.

The app enables users to submit data anonymously to government agencies and law firms. This information cannot be accessed without the permission of the person who provided it. Kaiser envisions it as a tool that different government departments could integrate into their websites.

According to a 2024 report from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, tips from whistleblowers led to 43% of occupational fraud detection. Kaiser noted that whistleblowers typically receive 15% to 30% of funds recovered in successful lawsuits. Vera Report allows eligible users to provide required information for a payout.

The Department of Justice recovered $6.8 billion under the False Claims Act in fiscal year 2025 alone. Data shows $5.3 billion of that came from whistleblowers. AlphaTON, which rebranded from a biotech firm last September, has created a treasury dedicated to Toncoin, the native currency of The Open Network originally designed by Telegram founders.
