The New York Stock Exchange, part of Intercontinental Exchange, has partnered with digital asset firm Securitize to develop infrastructure for tokenized securities. The collaboration aims to establish a compliant framework for issuing and trading blockchain-native assets, leveraging Securitize’s status as an SEC-registered transfer agent. This initiative supports the NYSE’s plans for a Digital Trading Platform capable of on-chain settlement.
The New York Stock Exchange and Securitize announced a collaboration to advance tokenized securities markets. Securitize was named the first eligible digital transfer agent for a planned NYSE-affiliated Digital Trading Platform.
The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, will see both entities jointly develop standards for digital transfer agents. The work focuses on regulatory, operational, and technical requirements for institutional-grade infrastructure.
NYSE Group President Lynn Martin stated, “The NYSE continues to lead the industry in responsible innovation. As we explore how tokenization can enhance capital markets, it is critical that new infrastructure is developed in a way that preserves the trust, transparency, and protections investors expect.” The initiative will leverage Securitize’s SEC-registered transfer agent status and tokenization experience.
Subject to meeting requirements, this work is expected to support Securitize’s designation as an approved digital transfer agent on the platform. Securitize Markets is also expected to participate as a broker-dealer on the Digital Trading Platform.
This development follows the NYSE’s January announcement outlining plans to create a platform supporting trading and blockchain-based settlement. The platform could potentially allow for 24/7 trading of US equities and exchange-traded funds.
The collaboration coincides with a wider industry trend toward scaling tokenization across traditional financial products. A recent report projected that tokenized assets could approach $490 billion by the end of 2026.
