During an anniversary Q&A, Pi Network co-founders Chengdiao Fan and Nicolas Kokkalis outlined their priorities for the controversial mobile mining project. Kokkalis stated that KYC verification and Mainnet migration remain top focuses, with efforts to increase throughput and introduce validator rewards. The founders emphasized building real-world utility with a fully KYC-verified user base, but community comments reveal ongoing user frustrations with the migration process.
The co-founders of Pi Network celebrated the project’s Open Network anniversary by addressing community questions. They praised the past year’s progress in app development and utility releases while outlining future plans.
Chengdiao Fan described Pi Network as “nonconformist,” highlighting its mobile-first approach and lack of an ICO. She emphasized that the project’s vision centers on enabling tokens to participate in genuine economic activity.
Nicolas Kokkalis stated that KYC and migration remain a top priority for the network. “We are also on track to roll out KYC validator rewards this quarter in a secure and scalable way,” he added.
Kokkalis explained the team has spent years building its own KYC solution to achieve global coverage and scalability. He noted the intent to eventually offer this KYC technology as a service to external projects.
Regarding ecosystem tokens, Fan explained they are coins created by the community and issued on Pi. She stated that the team is finalizing their implementation on Mainnet, with token design being a critical factor.
On artificial intelligence, Fan said Pi Network’s strategy is to build AI-powered apps using tools like Pi App Studio. She believes AI reshapes value creation, making it essential for blockchain to support real-world production.
Judging by comments under the announcement, many users continue to report issues with verification and migration. Some community members have expressed severe dissatisfaction with the process’s pace.
