Michael Saylor’s company Strategy continues its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition, with its executive chairman recently posting “Stretch the Orange Dots” to highlight its long-term accumulation plan. The firm has made 102 purchase events and holds 738,731 BTC, roughly 3.5% of the total supply. Analysts are divided on the leveraged strategy, with supporters citing a complex financial model and critics warning of significant risk dependent on Bitcoin’s price appreciation.

The company has conducted 102 purchase events as of mid-March 2026, with an average buy price around $75,863. Strategy currently holds 738,731 BTC, which represents about 3.5% of Bitcoin’s total 21 million coin supply.

Analyst Lark Davis explained the firm raises capital by selling shares or issuing convertible debt to fund further Bitcoin purchases. He remarked “It only works if Bitcoin keeps going up. Which means it’s either the greatest trade in history… or the most transparent gamble ever run.”

Investor confidence appears strong, with the company’s stock MSTR recently trading near $140. While Strategy remains the largest corporate holder, other entities like MARA Holdings and Metaplanet are adopting similar treasury strategies.

Critic Peter Schiff argues the approach is risky, noting recent purchases are down approximately 5%. Supporters like finance expert Rajat Soni point to sophisticated funding mechanisms, such as the STRC preferred stock offering an 11.5% dividend to finance Bitcoin acquisitions.

The company’s strategy utilizes leverage from investors to expand its Bitcoin holdings. Whether this model succeeds will ultimately depend on Bitcoin’s long-term price trajectory.
