StarkWare has integrated EY’s Nightfall privacy protocol into the Starknet zero-knowledge rollup, enabling private institutional transactions and DeFi access on a public network. The solution uses zero-knowledge proofs to conceal transaction details while allowing for selective disclosure to auditors and regulators. This integration aims to address transparency concerns that have historically hindered corporate blockchain adoption.
StarkWare has integrated EY‘s Nightfall privacy protocol into the Starknet network. This allows institutions to execute private payments and DeFi transactions on public blockchain infrastructure.
The protocol is designed for banks and corporations that require confidentiality while maintaining auditability. Nightfall is an open-source zero-knowledge system that verifies transactions while keeping details private.
The integration enables private business-to-business transactions, international payments, and confidential treasury operations. It also allows for the continuous on-chain movement of tokenized assets without public disclosure.
StarkWare stated this provides institutional users with access to Ethereum DeFi while maintaining transaction privacy. The protocol permits selective disclosure of details to regulators for compliance purposes.
StarkWare Co-founder and CEO Eli Ben-Sasson said the partnership brings public blockchain utility closer to institutional requirements. “Blockchains can enable every organization to have its private channel for stablecoins and tokenized deposits,” he stated.
According to Alex Gruell, StarkWare’s global business development head, Nightfall is immediately available for KYC-friendly use. He noted that EY brings regulatory familiarity needed for institutional engagement.
Gruell added that Starknet and Nightfall create an interoperability layer unlike isolated institutional silos. He stated permissioned models have limited connectivity to broader Web3 environments.
The rollout will occur in phases, starting with private transactions featuring compliance tools. Scalability upgrades will follow as network usage increases.
Starknet is a leading zero-knowledge rollup with a total value locked of approximately $281 million. Most activity centers on its DeFi protocols and ecosystem applications.
