Trilitech, a London-based development firm focused on the Tezos ecosystem, has launched a new trading platform called Metals.io. The platform facilitates the trading of tokenized physical commodities, specifically uranium, gold, and strategic metals. The initiative builds on Trilitech’s earlier entry into the retail uranium market via Etherlink. By leveraging blockchain technology, Metals.io aims to democratize access to these historically exclusive investment assets for ordinary investors.
Trilitech has launched Metals.io, a platform for trading tokenized commodities including uranium, gold, and strategic metals. This expansion builds upon the firm’s earlier retail uranium market introduced on Tezos layer-2 blockchain Etherlink in December 2024.
The new platform currently offers xU3O8 uranium tokens, gold tokens, and noemon Tech’s RARE token representing strategic metals. Ben Elvidge, who leads the commercial application team, stated that their aim is to democratize trading of uranium so that everyday people can have a chance. The goal is to enable participation without requiring major capital or institutional support.
The launch addresses rising investor interest in strategic materials linked to industrial usage and artificial intelligence infrastructure demand. Approximately 9,000 individual investors have purchased the tokenized uranium product since Metals.io debuted.
Metals.io operates on the Tezos blockchain, which the firm states provides transaction security and transparency. This method allows easier trading and fractional ownership of tokenized commodities.
