Wirex, a global crypto payments and Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) provider, has announced a strategic partnership with fintech company Utorg. Through a single API, Utorg will embed Wirex’s non-custodial card issuance, IBAN banking rails, and real-time crypto-to-fiat conversion into its consumer platform. This integration enables Utorg’s over 2 million users to spend digital assets from self-custodial wallets at more than 80 million merchants worldwide, with services expected to go live in weeks.
Wirex has entered a strategic partnership with Utorg, a global fintech focused on stablecoin infrastructure. The collaboration aims to embed Wirex’s full BaaS stack into Utorg’s consumer application.
Utorg’s platform currently serves more than 2 million users across over 190 countries. Through Wirex BaaS, it will offer users virtual and physical debit cards connected to their self-custodial wallets.
The integrated infrastructure includes non-custodial card issuance with Apple Pay and Google Pay support. It also provides EUR and USD IBAN accounts with SEPA Instant and Faster Payments connectivity.
Real-time crypto-to-fiat conversion at the point of sale is a core feature, requiring zero prefunding. The system will allow spending across over 80 million merchants in more than 130 countries.
Daniel Rowlands, General Manager of Onchain Finance at Wirex, stated “Our BaaS platform exists so that builders like Utorg can focus on their product instead of piecing together payment infrastructure from scratch.” He added that Wirex provides the rails to complete the user journey from purchase to spend.
Eugene Petrakov, Co-founder at Utorg, said “We built Utorg to bridge the gap between the traditional financial system and the emerging stablecoin economy.” The partnership aims to let users manage and spend crypto from the same environment.
Wirex, operational since 2014, is a principal Visa and Mastercard member trusted by over 7 million users. The company has processed over $20 billion in transactions globally.
Utorg was founded in 2020 and connects traditional payment networks with digital asset markets. The company joins other crypto-native platforms like Cardano and Simple App in using Wirex BaaS for card programs.
