Social media platform X announced a 90-day suspension from its revenue-sharing program for creators who post AI-generated war footage without clear disclosure. The policy targets content depicting armed conflicts to maintain information authenticity during wartime. Head of product Nikita Bier stated the rule is necessary because AI can easily create misleading content, and enforcement will be tied to monetization eligibility.
X will suspend creators from its revenue-sharing program for 90 days if they post AI-generated war footage without clearly disclosing the content was created using artificial intelligence. The platform’s head of product, Nikita Bier, said the rule aims to maintain the “authenticity of content on Timeline” during wartime events.
Bier stated, “During times of war, it is critical that people have access to authentic information on the ground.” He added that with today’s AI technologies, it is trivial to create content that can mislead people.
The move adds financial penalties to X’s existing moderation tools by linking disclosure to monetization eligibility. Creators who violate the policy by posting undisclosed AI-generated conflict footage may face suspension from the program.
Enforcement may be triggered by posts flagged by Community Notes or detected through metadata from generative AI tools. Accounts that repeatedly post such content risk permanent removal from X‘s creator revenue-sharing program.
The announcement comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions, following joint U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran. Bitcoin briefly dropped but later recovered, trading near $70,000 according to data from CoinGecko.
