-

The altcoin market is undergoing a significant shift following its August rally. Major tokens like Ethereum and Solana have declined by 2% and 4% respectively, even as institutional accumulation and network upgrades continue. Conversely, Tron, Aptos, and Kaspa saw strong gains driven by new spot-staked ETF launches and supply dynamics. The altcoin season index currently sits at 40, indicating the market still favors Bitcoin season. Bitcoin dominance is at 59.29%, while altcoin open interest has surpassed Bitcoin’s for the first time since December 2024. Bitcoin trades at $76,751.69, but macro uncertainty keeps the altcoin season signal unconfirmed.

The broader altcoin market is shifting after its August rally, with major tokens facing declines. Ethereum fell 2%, though Bitmine added 28,086 ETH to its treasury, and spot ETFs saw $218 million in inflows.

DeFi Development Corp. raised $11 million to buy SOL, while spot SOL ETFs saw modest outflows. Ripple’s XRP faced a sharper decline as RLUSD’s market cap surpassed $2.3 billion.

Binance Coin fell 1.5%, though BNB Chain strengthened its position in tokenized assets, holding $1.267 billion. Jupiter’s JUP fell 0.7% as it expanded into the same sector.

Conversely, Tron gained 2.7% after Canary Capital launched the first spot-staked TRON ETF. Aptos surged 6.4% after Bitwise filed an S-1 for a potential spot Aptos ETF.

Kaspa was the strongest performer, surging 23% as its circulating supply approached 96.5% of its hard cap. The altcoin season index sits at 40, signaling the market leans toward Bitcoin season.

Bitcoin dominance stands at 59.29%. Altcoin open interest has surpassed Bitcoin’s for the first time since December 2024, indicating aggressive leveraged positioning.

With Bitcoin dominance testing the key 60% resistance, weak trading volumes and renewed macro uncertainty could trigger a rejection. This could potentially pave the way for an altcoin rally, but the signal remains unconfirmed until key resistance levels are broken.
