Litecoin (LTC) is retesting the upper boundary of a rising parallel channel, a level it has previously failed to hold. The technical structure remains broadly constructive, with prices trading above key exponential moving averages. The Relative Strength Index has cooled from above 80 to near 59, indicating easing momentum without a bearish shift. Derivatives activity shows cautious positioning, with trading volumes dropping 23.32% and open interest declining 1.56%. On the fundamental side, Grayscale filed to rename the Grayscale Litecoin Trust as an ETF for a NYSE Arca listing under ticker LTCN, though SEC approval has not yet been received.
Litecoin (LTC) is approaching a technical decision point as its price retests the upper rail of a rising parallel channel. Crypto analyst Eric Van Tassel noted that LTC has previously failed to hold this area during earlier attempts, leading to renewed moves back inside the channel structure.
The current setup requires acceptance above the upper rail before confirming stronger continuation. A sustained breakout could strengthen the bullish structure, while another rejection may keep LTC trading within its established range.
TradingView data shows Litecoin maintaining a broadly constructive structure on the four-hour chart despite a recent pullback. LTC traded near $57.13 after recovering from around $51.81 and advancing toward $58.00.
The price remains above the 20, 50, 100 and 200 EMAs, suggesting buyers continue to control the broader short-term trend. The 20 EMA has emerged as an important dynamic support zone during the latest consolidation.
The 14-day RSI currently stands near 59.28 after falling from above 80, indicating that excessive momentum has cooled without shifting into bearish territory. The RSI still holds above the 50 neutral level, meaning the momentum profile remains positive.
According to CoinGlass figures, Litecoin’s derivatives trading volume decreased 23.32% to $358.26 million. Open interest declined by 1.56% to $436.25 million, suggesting reduced participation as investors assess price behavior.
On September 11, a filing at the SEC by Grayscale indicates plans to rename the Grayscale Litecoin Trust to the Grayscale Litecoin Trust ETF for an intended listing on the NYSE Arca under ticker LTCN. The filing states that the corresponding application under Rule 19b-4 has not yet received SEC approval.
The priority for LTC remains testing whether the price can break above the upper channel boundary. A breakout would be regarded as technical validation, while a failure might push the crypto toward its current channel boundaries.
