The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has added 14 new crypto firms to its MiCA register, bringing the total number of licensed Crypto Asset Service Providers (CASPs) to 294. Among the newly licensed entities is Ripple Payments Europe, the European subsidiary of Ripple, which announced it is now fully MiCA-compliant. Traditional banks are also entering the regulated space, including Bison Bank from Portugal, HPB Croatia, and several German cooperative banks. ESMA also updated its list of non-compliant cryptocurrency businesses, adding two entities after Italian regulator CONSOB’s intervention, bringing the total to 164 non-compliant firms.
The Ripple CASP License is now a notable feature of the latest edition of the MiCA Register published by ESMA. With the addition of 14 more crypto businesses, the overall total number of CASPs in the EU has risen to 294.
Newly licensed companies include Ripple Payments Europe, the European subsidiary of Ripple. As Ripple stated, “It’s official: Ripple has received its EU CASP license. We are now fully MiCA-compliant and ready to meet growing European crypto demand.” Bison Bank from Portugal and Hrvatska poÅ¡tanska banka (HPB) from Croatia also became licensed.
The recent changes indicate that more traditional financial organizations are joining the crypto industry. The list included Germany’s cooperative banks, Volksbank Schwarzwald-Donau-Neckar and Raiffeisenbank Auerbach-Freihung. Approval was also granted to Kaiser Partner Privatbank in Liechtenstein.
These institutions join other financial organizations that have obtained MiCA licensing, such as BBVA, CaixaBank, Commerzbank, CACEIS Bank, and Standard Chartered Luxembourg. The ESMA registry did not register any changes in the EMT and ART registers.
The EMT register has 21 approved issuers, but there are zero issuers in the ART register. ESMA updated the list of non-compliant cryptocurrency businesses after the intervention of CONSOB of Italy, adding Reversal Investment Group and Kortex. This brings the total number of non-compliant cryptocurrency entities to 164.
