SOL leads altcoin surge; Bitcoin hits $81K amid major market rally

-

Bitcoin broke above $80,000 for the first time since mid-May, reaching a new 15-month peak above $81,500 before retreating after hawkish comments from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. SOL, ZEC, RAIN, XMR, PUMP, and AAVE posted double-digit weekly gains, with Solana’s token surpassing $100. Hyperliquid (HYPE) charted a new all-time high. The total market cap stands at $2.87 trillion with BTC dominance at 57.5%. Key headlines include Ripple’s Wall Street push, Revolut’s euro stablecoin launch, and Circle’s Chelsea FC partnership.

Bitcoin surged from under $65,000 to nearly $80,000 last Wednesday after a key announcement, then corrected to $75,500 over the weekend. The bulls returned early this week, pushing the asset above $80,000 on Tuesday for the first time since mid-May.

Bitcoin quickly reached $81,500 on most exchanges, marking a new 15-month peak, before sellers triggered a drop to $78,500. The decline followed a hawkish speech by new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole.

Bitcoin has since rebounded to above $79,000, posting a 2.5% weekly gain. Many altcoins posted double-digit increases, including Solana (SOL), which surged past $100 for the first time since late January.

Other top performers were ZEC, RAIN, XMR, PUMP, and AAVE. Hyperliquid (HYPE) also charted a new all-time high.

In contrast, ADA, XLM, and BCH fell by up to 5% weekly. The total cryptocurrency market cap now stands at $2.87 trillion with 24-hour volume of $93 billion.

Bitcoin dominance is 57.5%, with ETH at $2,510 (+4.7%) and XRP at $1.42 (+0.01%). Among the week’s headlines, Ripple launched an institutional trading business called Ripple Prime, allowing hedge funds and asset managers to execute Total Return Swaps.

Revolut launched its first euro-denominated stablecoin, EURR, under the EU’s MiCA framework, redeemable at €1.00 per token. Circle announced a principal partnership with Chelsea FC, featuring USDC branding on shirts starting the 2026/2027 season, reportedly worth over $60 million annually.

Strategy added $1.9 billion to its USD reserve but has not purchased any Bitcoin for roughly two months, even as its BTC position turned green. BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes predicted more dollar liquidity could push Bitcoin’s rally further.
