Strategy increased its Bitcoin holdings to 846,000 BTC, purchasing 950 BTC for $75.7 million between September 14 and 20, according to a recent SEC filing. The company funded the acquisition through its cash reserves while also spending $174 million to repurchase its preferred stock.
Strategy has expanded its Bitcoin treasury, purchasing 950 BTC for $75.7 million between September 14 and 20. The acquisition, made at an average price of $79,670 per coin, brings the company’s total holdings to 846,000 BTC, representing roughly 4% of Bitcoin’s maximum 21 million supply.
The latest purchase restores Strategy’s position to the level last seen in June. The company’s ledger shows holdings had slipped to 840,447 BTC in August before a 4,603-BTC buy on August 31, followed by this week’s addition.
The cumulative cost of Strategy’s Bitcoin now stands at $63.80 billion, with an average purchase price of $75,416 per BTC, including fees. The company funded this purchase using its USD Cash balance rather than issuing new shares through its at-the-market offering.
Alongside the Bitcoin buy, Strategy repurchased 1,771,238 shares of its STRC preferred stock for $174 million, more than double the amount spent on the latest BTC acquisition. No shares were sold through the ATM program during the same period.
The company said $875.1 million remains available under its preferred-stock repurchase authorization. An additional $1 billion is authorized for common-stock repurchases, while $57.4 million was used from its USD Reserve for preferred-stock dividends and interest.
Bitcoin’s price has strengthened during this period, climbing above $83,000. Data shows BTC trading around $85,910, up 6.5% over 24 hours and 9.6% over seven days, with a market capitalization near $1.72 trillion.
Institutional flows have shown a mixed but improving picture. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of $450.4 million and $295.9 million on September 15 and 16, respectively, before attracting inflows of $159.5 million and $324.6 million on the following two days.
Strategy ended September 20 with $5.04 billion in its USD Reserve and $1.05 billion in USD Cash, totaling approximately $6.09 billion in dollar-denominated assets. The company noted these funds can be used for Bitcoin purchases, reserve funding, and capital management.
The company’s next disclosures will show whether this marks a return to more frequent accumulation or remains a smaller purchase following the larger August acquisition.
