Tesla Stock Split: Bull Case Sees $3,000 by 2030 on AI, Bear Warns of $125

-

Tesla’s stock forecast hinges on whether it trades like a car company or an AI and robotics firm. Bullish models project a 2030 price target of $2,600 to $3,000, assuming Robotaxi, Optimus, FSD, and Megapack succeed. That scenario could push market cap above $8 trillion. Bearish analysts, including Gordon Johnson at GLJ Research, cite margin pressure, negative cash flow, and Chinese competition, with targets near $125 to $130. JPMorgan sees revenue doubling from $95 billion to $203 billion by 2030. S&P Global expects $23 billion net cash by 2026, easing liquidity concerns.

Tesla’s stock outlook is divided between a bullish vision of an AI and robotics company and a bearish view of a struggling carmaker. Bullish models project a 2030 price target of $2,600 to $3,000 per share, implying a market cap above $8 trillion.

That scenario depends on Robotaxi becoming a true driverless network with real software margins and Optimus output reaching about 10 million units annually, which Elon Musk called “the biggest product ever.” Full Self-Driving subscriptions, Megapack storage, and Optimus production would all need to grow simultaneously to reach the upper band.

The bear case offers a starkly different outcome. Bearish analysts, including Gordon Johnson at GLJ Research, project a target as low as $125 to $130 if Tesla faces technical setbacks, tougher EV competition abroad, and delayed robotics commercialization.

Aggressive price cuts have squeezed automotive operating margin to around 1.4%, a sharp miss against consensus. Free cash flow turned negative at -$1.09 billion, while Chinese rivals like BYD pressure global deliveries.

The outcome depends on whether key projects deliver. Wall Street projections show cash outflows from 2026 through 2028, with free cash flow turning positive in 2029 as Robotaxi and Optimus revenue contribute.

JPMorgan holds a more optimistic view, lifting its price target and projecting revenue roughly doubling from $95 billion in 2025 to $203 billion by 2030. S&P Global Market Intelligence expects Tesla to end 2026 with $23 billion in net cash, reducing near-term liquidity concerns.

The bull case requires Robotaxi and Optimus to hit targets mostly on time, while the bear case needs only one to slip. At the time of writing, that remains an open question.
