The GRNY ETF, managed by BitMine Chairman Tom Lee, significantly boosted its Strategy (MSTR) holdings during the August 2026 quarter-end rebalance, making it the fund’s largest holding. Data from Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas shows the allocation rose from approximately 0.45% to 3.02% within two weeks, moving MSTR from the smallest position to the top. This reallocation preceded a 46% surge in Strategy’s stock to $142.80, outperforming Bitcoin’s 26% gain. The GRNY ETF, with approximately $4.489 billion in assets, follows Fundstrat’s quantitative selection process requiring stocks to meet at least two of seven investment themes. Strategy qualified due to its substantial Bitcoin ownership and technology exposure.
According to data presented by Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, the GRNY ETF shifted its allocation during the August 2026 quarter-end rebalance. Strategy’s position rose from approximately 0.45% to 3.02% within two weeks, making it the largest holding above Robinhood at 2.99%.
As stated by Tom Lee, the rebalancing led to many additions and deletions across large, small, and mid-cap stocks. Total assets under management for the Granny Shots portfolio are $5.1 billion, with the GRNY ETF at approximately $4.489 billion.
The fund uses an investment approach based on Fundstrat’s quantitative stock selection. Stocks must meet at least two of seven investment themes to be included. Strategy qualified due to its Bitcoin ownership and association with technology and evolving finance.
Lee stated the recent rebalance was driven by a transition towards quality growth stocks and quality cyclicals due to the interest rate environment. The fund may adjust its MSTR position during future rebalances based on market trends.
MSTR rose nearly 46% to $142.80, while Bitcoin gained about 26%. Strategy purchased 4,603 BTC for approximately $369.7 million as Bitcoin rose above $81,000. Investors view MSTR as a means of gaining amplified exposure to Bitcoin’s price movements.
