Zcash (ZEC) has surged over 100% in the last month, significantly outperforming most major cryptocurrencies. The rally follows the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission concluding its investigation into Zcash without any enforcement action. Despite internal challenges and remaining far from its all-time high, the project reports holding substantial liquid assets.
The privacy-focused cryptocurrency Zcash (ZEC) has posted gains exceeding 100% over the past month, beating the performance of most major assets in the top 100 by market capitalization. CoinGecko data shows the asset rallied 13.7% in 24 hours and has gained 1481.7% since May 2025.
This upward momentum comes after a key regulatory development for the project. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has dropped its investigation into whether Zcash’s token violated securities laws, which the project’s Q1 2026 report called a “significant regulatory win.”
The report also detailed the project’s financial position, noting it holds $36.7 million in liquid assets. These reserves include approximately 85,412 ZEC, 41.8 BTC, and more than 506,000 USDC.
Zcash recently navigated internal upheaval when its core development team, the Electric Coin Company, quit en masse earlier this year. The project appears to have weathered that organizational storm despite the disruption.
Despite the recent surge, ZEC’s price remains nearly 80% below its all-time high of approximately $3,192. Market observers note that persistent high interest rates could pressure cryptocurrency prices and lead investors to seek safer assets.
