Bitcoin is showing signs of a potential bullish breakout after bouncing from the $76,500 support level, with technical and on-chain indicators suggesting upward momentum. The cryptocurrency has reclaimed the $77,500 resistance, and analysts point to the MVRV Momentum Oscillator crossing above zero as a historically bullish signal. Bitcoin is currently trading at $77,612, up 1.11% in 24 hours, with a market capitalization of approximately $1.56 trillion. The asset sits above key moving averages, but faces immediate resistance near $78,444 and the critical $80,000 zone. Failure to hold above $76,500 could signal a continued range-bound pattern.
Bitcoin price is gaining traction after bouncing off the $76,500 level, with technical readings and on-chain metrics hinting at a potential push higher. The development follows recent support near the lower end of its range, as Wealthmanager highlighted on September 14, when BTC rebounded from around $76,500 and regained the $77,500 resistance.
The possibility of staying above $77,500 provides scope for Bitcoin to break through the next resistance level of $80,000. Wealthmanager noted the setup is significant given that Bitcoin remains structurally strong despite negative market sentiment.
The $77,500 level has emerged as an essential short-term price zone, with a breakout and hold boosting Bitcoin’s recovery. A breach of the $80,000 zone could alter the short-term structure, while a larger decline may reveal support further down near $76,500. At writing, Bitcoin is trading at $77,612 with a 24-hour trading volume of $112.56 billion.
Analyst CryptoGoos highlighted a possible shift in on-chain momentum, as the MVRV Momentum Oscillator crosses back above zero. “Every time this happened, the biggest leg of the bull market followed: 2012, 2016, 2019, and 2023,” CryptoGoos stated. The MVRV metric measures market value against realized Bitcoin price, detecting changes in bear or bull markets. A positive momentum may indicate more BTC in unrealized profits.
Bitcoin currently sits above the 50-day EMA at $77,080, while the 100-day and 200-day EMAs are at $73,353 and $73,028 respectively. Bollinger Bands show the middle line at $78,444, with an upper band at $80,970 and a lower band at $75,919. Bitcoin remains below the middle line, indicating some selling pressure.
The coming trading sessions may determine if the latest bounce forms part of a bigger recovery. The first level of interest is $77,500, followed by $78,444 and the $80,000-$80,970 zone. However, levels $76,500 and $75,919 should be watched, as missing both would suggest BTC is not yet ready for a breakout attempt.
