Bitcoin Consolidates Near $77K as Rally Faces Key Resistance

Bitcoin is trading around $77,300, consolidating after a decisive breakout from the $67,000 area. The broader market structure has improved significantly, but the cryptocurrency now faces a critical resistance cluster between $80,000 and $82,000. According to the latest data, the Coinbase Premium Index has turned negative, suggesting that US spot demand has yet to fully confirm the recent price advance.

Daily and 4-Hour Technical Outlook

On the daily chart, Bitcoin has undergone a substantial structural recovery. After declining to the $60,000 demand zone in June, the asset spent several months building a base before breaking decisively above the $67,000 resistance in late August. The rally accelerated through the $72,000-$74,000 zone toward the $80,000 area.

The $72,000-$74,000 region has now become the first major support level. A successful retest would preserve the bullish structure established by the breakout. Below that, the $67,000 zone serves as more significant structural support, having previously capped the market for months. A deeper correction could bring the $60,000 demand zone back into focus.

On the 4-hour chart, the rally has lost momentum after reaching the $80,000-$82,000 area. Bitcoin is currently forming a broad consolidation below resistance, which could be interpreted as a potential continuation range if the lower boundary holds. Immediate support sits at the $72,000-$74,000 zone, representing the previous resistance that was cleared during the breakout. A sustained move above $82,000 would signal renewed buyer control, potentially opening the path toward the $90,000 or $95,000 levels. Conversely, a break below $72,000 could trigger a retracement toward $67,000.

On-Chain Signals Raise Caution

The Coinbase Premium Index, which measures the price difference between Bitcoin on Coinbase and other major exchanges, is currently reading around -0.02, back in negative territory. This metric is a proxy for US-based spot buying pressure. The negative reading is notable because Bitcoin has remained well above levels seen before the late-August breakout.

The divergence between price strength and the premium index indicates the recent rally has not been accompanied by sustained Coinbase buying pressure. Historically, the premium spent considerable time below zero during the decline toward $60,000, while stronger positive readings appeared during recovery phases. The current negative reading warrants caution as Bitcoin approaches the $80,000-$82,000 resistance zone. A move into positive territory alongside a breakout above $82,000 would provide more convincing confirmation. If Bitcoin loses $72,000 while the premium remains negative, it would increase the probability of a deeper correction rather than an immediate transition into another leg higher.
