The Pi Network Core Team has issued a direct warning to its over 60 million users regarding impersonation scams on social media. The team clarified that founders Nicolas Kokkalis and Dr. Chengdiao Fan possess the only verified accounts. This alert follows similar warnings from other major projects like Ripple and Shiba Inu, highlighting a widespread issue of bad actors exploiting crypto communities with fake airdrops and giveaways.
The Pi Network Core Team has warned its community about a growing number of impersonation scams targeting users. This clarification directs Pioneers to follow only the official accounts of founders Nicolas Kokkalis and Dr. Chengdiao Fan, which now have verification badges.
The team stated these badges help identify their only real accounts. It cautioned users to be wary of scammers impersonating project affiliates and misleading links.
The project’s ecosystem now claims over 60 million users, with more than 16.7 million migrated to Mainnet. Approximately 30% of the user base has completed a Know-Your-Customer verification process.
“As some Pioneers may have noticed, affiliate badges have recently been assigned to the Pi Founders’ official X accounts,” the official account posted. The team advised always verifying information through official channels.
Pi Network is not alone in facing these security challenges. Ripple’s CTO Emeritus recently warned his 700,000 followers about fake accounts impersonating him to promote scams.
The popular meme coin project Shiba Inu has also frequently issued warnings about fraudulent activity. Its team recently alerted users to multiple fraud attempts involving a specific NFT collection.
