The SHIB community is facing a new wave of scam attempts targeting a compensation NFT known as SOU, according to security warnings. The official alert states these NFTs will never be airdropped, urging users to only claim through the official Shiba Inu website. Analysts note that the compensation system was created following a security breach on the Shibarium network last year.
The Shiba Inu community is being targeted by multiple fraud attempts involving the SOU NFT. Shibarium Trustwatch issued an alert warning users that the non-fungible token will never be airdropped to wallets.
Eligible claimants can only obtain the SOU NFT through Shiba Inu’s official website. The warning stated users should not click on shared or shortened links. It emphasized never sharing private keys or seed phrases under any circumstances.
LUCIE, a marketing strategist for Shibarium, urged the community to stay vigilant against such scams. They mentioned that fake ads impersonating Uniswap have already caused significant user losses.
The SOU NFT was created to compensate users after a security breach on the Shibarium network in September. The incident reportedly involved an attacker using a flash loan to purchase 4.6 million BONE tokens.
The team recently explained the NFT represents a verified claim recorded on Ethereum. “Think of it like a digital IOU that lives forever on the blockchain instead of a promise in a spreadsheet,” they said.
