XRPL Core Server “rippled” Rebranded to “xrpld” in Efficiency Update

-

The XRP Ledger will activate its 3.2.0 core software upgrade on June 15. This update renames the server software from “rippled” to “xrpld” to better reflect the ecosystem’s independence. It also introduces performance improvements, including a potential 40% reduction in server memory usage, alongside bug fixes aimed at improving network stability and efficiency for future growth.

The XRP Ledger is scheduled to activate version 3.2.0 of its core server software on June 15. This update does not introduce major user-facing features but focuses on the network’s long-term operational improvements.

A key change is the renaming of the server software from “rippled” to “xrpld.” Developers stated this move is intended to better reflect the broader XRPL ecosystem and reduce confusion with other Ripple-related products.

Following the upgrade, node operators will see “xrpld 3.2.0” displayed in their command line. This change reflects the growing independence and technical maturity of the ledger’s infrastructure.

The release delivers significant performance improvements, with server memory usage potentially dropping by up to 40%. These optimizations allow nodes to operate more efficiently under higher demand.

The update also introduces system-wide refinements designed to improve overall network efficiency. These changes support higher transaction throughput as activity expands across various applications.

Version 3.2.0 includes multiple bug fixes and technical refinements to number handling and rounding logic. These improvements aim to strengthen network stability without affecting the end-user experience.

This release follows the earlier deployment of version 3.1.3 on the mainnet in late May. That update fixed issues involving NFTs, Permissioned Domains, Vaults, and other protocol features.

Network data from XRPSCAN indicates about 84% of XRPL nodes have already adopted version 3.1.3. This adoption level suggests the ecosystem is preparing for a smooth migration.

Developers are encouraging validators and node operators to update their systems before the activation date. Servers on older versions may face limitations in network functions after the upgrade.

The release includes ongoing security enhancements like expanded AI-assisted testing and bug bounty efforts. These measures are designed to strengthen the ledger’s resilience as institutional use cases expand.
