Fundstrat has given Bitcoin two possible directions in a recent client note, forecasting a potential 30% move either up or down from its current trading level near $64,000. The crypto is struggling in 2026, trading in a loop between $65,000 and $58,000 and falling nearly 45% in a year. The research firm set an upside target of $83,200 based on historical cycles, where a median 30% gain followed consolidation phases. However, it also set a downside target of $44,800, citing negative market sentiment as investors flock to AI tech stocks instead.
The New York-based independent financial research firm Fundstrat has issued a dual price prediction for Bitcoin in its latest note to clients. The prediction arrives as BTC trades around $64,000, unable to break a cycle between $65,000 and $58,000 after falling nearly 45% in a year.
Money is currently flowing into the stock market, specifically into AI technology sectors like semiconductor stocks, high-bandwidth memory manufacturers, and renewable energy suppliers. Fundstrat gauged these market sentiments, which are not currently favoring cryptocurrencies.
Fundstrat predicted Bitcoin could reach a high of $83,200 after observing historical cycles, where it surged nearly 30% each time it entered a price consolidation phase. “The typical magnitude of historical moves is notable. Looking across prior observations, the median absolute move over the subsequent 60 days has been roughly 30%,” said Sean Farrell, Fundstrat’s Head of Digital Asset Strategy.
While this is a potential positive outcome, Farrell also predicted an equal chance of a dip. The firm sensed an extremely cautious market with mostly negative moods. Fundstrat’s note gives a specific downside target of $44,800, representing a reduction of $20,000 from the current price and a loss of 30%. The research firm stated that Bitcoin’s next step will involve either a 30% profit or a 30% loss as investors tighten their purse strings.
