Google’s $200B AI Bet Shapes GOOGL Stock Outlook as Cloud Backlog Hits $514B

-

Alphabet plans to spend approximately $200 billion on AI infrastructure this year, a figure that shapes current Google stock forecasts. GOOGL stock rose 69.2% over the past twelve months but sits about 14.5% below its 52‑week high as Wall Street assesses whether the spending pays off quickly enough. The company’s capital expenditure reached 29.7% of revenue on a trailing basis, far above its 12.2% historical average. Google Cloud revenue jumped 82% year over year, and a cloud backlog of $514 billion provides a timetable for cash conversion. Free cash flow was negative $5.9 billion in the quarter, while debt rose to nearly $100 billion.

Alphabet spent $44.9 billion on capital expenditure in the June quarter alone, pushing capex to 29.7% of revenue on a trailing twelve‑month basis, well above the 12.2% historical average. Google Services brought in $94.5 billion for the quarter, and Google Cloud added another $24.8 billion, with most of that spending going into servers, data centers, and networking gear.

Alphabet raised its full‑year guidance, a change that alters any Google stock forecast built around the old, lighter spending pattern. Sundar Pichai, as stated, said: “Our AI investments are redefining what’s possible across every part of our business.”

Net income climbed in the quarter, but a good chunk came from unrealized gains on an equity portfolio that never touched a bank account. Operating cash flow ran 13.1% below net income on a trailing basis, a reversal from the 12.4% cushion Alphabet historically carried above net income.

Free cash flow came in at negative $5.9 billion for the quarter. Debt also jumped, from about $16 billion a year ago to close to $100 billion now. Alphabet still holds $242.5 billion in cash and marketable securities, which gives any Google stock price prediction some room to breathe even during a tight stretch.

Anat Ashkenazi, CFO, said: “We are updating our full‑year 2026 CapEx guidance range to $195 billion‑$205 billion.” Google Cloud revenue jumped 82% year over year, and an already large cloud backlog reached $514 billion, with more than half expected to turn into revenue within two years.

That backlog is the anchor for any Google stock price prediction going forward, since it gives a rough timetable for when all this spending converts back into cash. GOOGL stock still trades on that promise, and the coming Q3 report should also show whether Google stock growth can keep pace with the AI bill.
