Worldcoin (WLD) surged over 13% in the past 24 hours, bringing weekly gains above 26% and monthly gains exceeding 50% despite a major token unlock. Renewed interest in AI coins, strong buying activity, and short liquidations fueled the rally. A technical breakout above the $0.45 resistance zone hints at a potential bullish market structure shift, though selling pressure from scheduled unlocks and a bearish RSI divergence pose risks.
Worldcoin rallied by more than 13% in the past 24 hours, doubling its weekly profits to over 26%. The altcoin has been bullish on average over the past 30 days, with gains exceeding 50% as of press time.
The surge occurred amid renewed interest in AI, evident in double-digit gains for Near Protocol, Bittensor, Injective, and Internet Computer over a similar timeframe. Buying activity was visible in the Spot Taker Cumulative Volume Delta, which flipped positive in the last two days of August, indicating buyer dominance.
The Long/Short Ratios on Binance and OKX were all above 1.70. The Top Trader Long/Short ratios for accounts and positions stood at 1.93 and 2.11, showing large players were invested.
This buying volume forced a spike in liquidations of leveraged shorts, wiping out more than $1.20 million in 12 hours. Meanwhile, only $490,000 in long orders was liquidated, accelerating the rally.
Technically, WLD broke above the $0.41–$0.45 zone, which was the most recent lower high and also the neckline of an inverted head-and-shoulders pattern. The breakout hinted at a potentially shifting market structure, with bullish target areas at $0.55 and above the true close at $0.67.
However, the RSI reading of 67 was still above neutral but showed a bearish divergence, indicating selling pressure was not yet exhausted. The scheduled unlock of 69 million WLD tokens on September 7, valued at $28 million, adds persistent selling pressure.
This unlock is only a fraction of the 87 million tokens set for September. On top of that, the market structure was yet to be confirmed as the price remained around $0.45.
